The lecture is intended as an introduction to the history of the music video, which is also a history of music television. In addition, it presents various possibilities of visualizing music using exemplary case analyses.

Prof. Dr. Matthias Weiß teaches art history at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg with a focus on modernism. He wrote his dissertation, published by Dietrich Reimer Verlag in 2007, on quotation techniques in Madonna's video clips.
