It is currently concerned with the temporality of artifacts in the period before 1500. Old artifacts were and are constantly being integrated into new contexts, old things used for new purposes. Historicizing approaches to the past, retrospective views into an older time period can be identified above all in art historical subject areas, for example through the citation of older forms or the integration of old objects into new artefacts in the form of a spolia. Together with colleagues from various disciplines, Zeitfugen - Zeitfugen (hypotheses.org), she explores the question of how different temporal levels in pre-modernism fit together and into one another.
Another research focus is on allegorical tapestries between the late Middle Ages and the early modern period. Due to their representative function, tapestries are an important transfer medium and a central interface between literary and visual education. Allegorical tapestries function as iconic texts, so to speak, insofar as they also reflect literary practices of the time.
