Symposium: Space, Time and Material: Trajectories between Science and Art
What conceptions of space do they develop? What questions drive their respective research and experiments? How do they generate and process their material? What words and narratives do scientists and artists use to describe, convey and discuss their experiences and perceptions?
These are some of the questions that will be discussed at the interdisciplinary symposium ‘Space, Time and Material: Trajectories between Art and Science’. The initial impetus came from an excursion to the SciArt Dialogue Week 2026 at CERN, in which eight lecturers, researchers and students from the fields of musicology, art history, philosophy, physics and religious studies at the University of Graz took part. The inspiring dialogue that began there is now being continued in Graz. To this end, researchers from CERN are also travelling to Graz.

On Thursday morning the workshop "What Does 'Thinking Outside the Box' Really Mean?" will take place at the Festsaal, registration is reqired. At 2:00 p.m the opening of “Supernova", an exhibition of students from KUG at the Volkskundemuseum will conclude the programme ((Joseph Böhm, Francesco Casanova, Cornelius Grömminger, Lain Iwakura, Joris Kindler, Pablo Knupfer, I - A, Artem Sivashenko, Zlata Zhidkova, Gemma Lambourne)). Anke Eckardt, Raphaela Miklauc, Niklas Notter, Georg Wieland, Susanne Kogler and Joep Janssens will held a talk with the artists on this occasion.
