Alice Lee, a PhD student in Music History and Music Theory from Stony Brook University in New York, is currently visiting the University of Graz. Through the generous support of a Fulbright-Mach US Student Research Award, she is spending an academic year at the Musicology Institute. During her time in Graz, she will be collaborating with Prof. Dr. Walter and will be conducting archival research.
Alice‘s project is on opera in German-speaking lands, and the relationship between the market economy, opera houses, and singers as well as their intermediaries. In particular, she is interested in examining quantitative—especially financial—questions by way of implementing empirical data-based methods.
It is Alice’s first time in Austria, and she is very grateful for the kindness and hospitality of the members of the Institute!
