Erasmus Professor am Institut für Kunstgeschichte

Das Institut für Kunstgeschichte freut sich sehr, dass es im Sommersemester 2019 den Leiter des Instituts für Kunstgeschichte an der Universität Sarajevo, Hr. Prof. Haris Dervišević, begrüßen darf. Dieser wird im Rahmen der Vorlesung "Das Königsbild in der Kunst des Alten Orients" von Prof. Galter vier Lehrveranstaltungseinheiten abhalten.

 

Haris Dervišević is assistant professor and head of Chair of History of Art at Faculty of Philosophy University of Sarajevo. Dervišević received his B.A. and M.A. in art history from University of Sarajevo and Ph.D. in art history from University of Zagreb. Dervišević’s research focuses on Islamic art in general with specialization of Islamic art in Bosnia and Herzegovina. His works were published in scientific and popular journals, and also in daily, weekly and online magazines. His main current project is establishing Museum of Islamic Art in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is active member of National Committee of ICOMOS and member of Council of the Congress of Bosnian Intellectuals.

Dervišević’s four lectures at Kunsthistorisches Institut at Graz are planned for the first week of April 2019. The first one is What is Islamic Art?, which examines the most frequent themes of Islamic art, its nature, origin and principles. The inevitable theme in treating Islamic art is a phenomenon of aniconism. Second lecture Introduction to Islamic Calligraphy is focused on aesthetics of calligraphy with an overview of calligraphy styles. Ottoman Architecture in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the third lecture and threats the most representative achievements of Ottoman architecture, some of them designed by chief sultan architects. Last lecture entitled Collection of Islamic Art in Bosnia and Herzegovina gives a survey of public and private collections with masterpieces not only from Bosnia but also from Iran and Turkey.
