After earning her Ph.D. at the University of Navarra and completing a National Science Council-funded postdoctoral fellowship with the Ministry of Education in Taiwan, she held teaching and research positions at the Taipei National University of the Arts and Shih Chien University. Currently, she contributes to both the School of Applied Management and the School of Architecture at the University of Navarra and is an active member of various national and international societies in aesthetics and art history.
Her research centers on the concept of the artistic-ecological niche, exploring how artistic creation and audience perception are shaped by the interplay of internal and external factors. As a member of the “Aesthetics and Contemporary Art” research group at the University of Navarra, she adopts an interdisciplinary approach in her work.
During her stay in Graz, Dr. Chen continues and expands her previous research at the Department of Arts and Musicology. Her current project focuses on the framework of integral ecology, investigating how contemporary artists based in Austria engage with ecological thought through visual and sound-based practices. She analyzes how visual art, sound, and music are interconnected to enrich eco-critical discourse and offer new perspectives on the relationship between art and the environment. Her visit provides valuable impulses for interdisciplinary collaboration and exchange between art, music, and academia.
