Opera for everyone – Everyone for opera

Oper für alle - Die drei Musketiere vor gelbem Hintergrund

Discussion event on the framework conditions, opportunities and challenges of inclusive musical theatre with Ingeborg Zechner

Courage unites the performers, who are working together for the first time in the inclusive operetta production The Three Musketeers (directed by Georg Schütky) and share the experience of having to overcome a wide variety of hurdles: While the singers have to assert themselves in a high-risk profession, the performers at the LebensGroß theatre academy are challenged to break down barriers in a world that is not designed for them.

Accompanying the production, the discussion event Opera for All – All for Opera invites participants to discuss the framework conditions, opportunities and challenges of inclusive musical theatre: How can opera become a space for collaboration and togetherness? What responsibility does musical theatre bear in an inclusive society? And what does opera need in order to open up – in the auditorium, on stage and in the orchestra pit? These questions will be explored in depth in conversation with renowned guests from academia and artistic practice.

With: Ingeborg Zechner (University of Graz), Elisabeth Magdlener (CCC** – Change Cultural Concepts), Lina Hölscher (InTaKT Festival & Theaterakademie LebensGroß), Ebru Tepecik (Centre for Cultural Participation Baden-Württemberg)

Moderator: Fabian Burstein (cultural manager, author & host of the podcast Bühneneingang – Kultur von innen)

In the spring of 2026, she spent three months in Florence, devoting all her time and attention to research for her dissertation. This was made possible by a fellowship from the Medici Archive Project, an independent research institute dedicated to preserving and valorising archival materials on early modern Florence and Tuscany. Between February and May, Clara Nicolay, who is university assistant in art history, spent the majority of her time in the study rooms of the Archivio di Stato di Firenze.
