The Gumpenhuber Digital Edition – GuDiE makes a unique source on the theatre and musical culture of the Viennese court in the 18th century accessible for the first time as a critical digital edition using XML/TEI. Compiled by the dancer and ballet master Philipp Gumpenhuber (1706–1770), the surviving theatre chronicles document theatrical practice at the Viennese court theatres between 1758 and 1763.
Furthermore, the data on theatre practice preserved in the chronicles is semantically linked using a specially developed data model, thereby enabling analyses of the complex relationships between performers, events and performances in the theatre world of the time.
