100 Years of Performing Arts in Düsseldorf

Elena Minetti from the Department of Art and Musicolgy at the University of Graz took part in an event focusing on stage rehearsals for Hans Werner Henze’s opera ‘Don Chisciotte’, which was held as part of the ‘100 Years of Performing Arts’ series in Düsseldorf. Students from all music academies in North Rhine-Westphalia and the stage design class at the Düsseldorf Art Academy are preparing a production of the opera ‘Don Chisciotte’ in Montepulciano in July 2026. In the auditorium of the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts, she and Prof. Michael Dissmeier gave an introduction to the opera. Prof. Michael Dissmeier is the director of the opera project and head of the opera school at the Detmold University of Music. Before joining the University of Graz, Elena Minetti worked as a research assistant on the DFG-funded ‘Henze Digital’ project at the University of Paderborn. As part of this project, she edited correspondence between Hans Werner Henze and selected correspondents from his artistic network.
