Your Responsibilities
- Independent research and publication activity in the field of modern and contemporary art history and science of arts, with a desired focus on postcolonial studies, transculturality, and science of arts in a global context.
- Collaboration on research projects of the Chair of Modern and Contemporary Art, specifically in the two projects: “Counter-Herbarium: Colonial Botany, Afro-Diasporic Memory, and Ecological Archives in Modern and Contemporary Art” and “The Mediterranean and Atlantic as Postcolonial Spaces in Modern and Contemporary Art”.
- Opportunity to complete a habilitation thesis in the area of modern and contemporary art
- Participation in the research focus areas of the University of Graz, particularly in the Core Research Area of the Faculty of Humanities: “Trans-Mediterranean Entanglements – Movements and Relations in the Mediterranean Region and Beyond”
- Applying for third-party funded projects
- Independent teaching of courses
- Participation in organizational and administrative tasks, as well as in evaluation measures at the Department of Arts and Musicology
Your Profile
- Completed doctorate/PhD in the area of art history and science of art with above-average results
- Excellent knowledge of the history, theory, and methodology of modern and contemporary art, preferably with a focus on postcolonial studies, transculturality, and/or art history in a global context.
- International experience evidenced by verifiable research and/or teaching appointments abroad
- Outstanding expertise in interdisciplinary and transcultural research
- Excellent proficiency in English and another language
- Independent publications in the field of modern and contemporary art
- Strong teamwork skills, social competence, and integrity
- A responsible and self-reliant working style, resilience, and strong problem-solving skills
- A strong personal commitment to academic excellence and the ability to motivate and support both staff and students
